Letter: New plan needed on Cable Road safety

0

It’s not unusual to hear dimwitted proposals from government, but a recently heard suggestion from the City of Lima should receive an award for being the most hick-townish.

Letter: Hearsay allowed in case an example of court issues

0

I also can sadly attest to the court system being more interested in convictions than justice.

Letter: Observatory missed out on once-in-lifetime event

0

Our community will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view a total eclipse of the sun.

Letter: Delphos remembers Peltier and his accomplishments well

0

I response to Kevin Blake’s letter published March 24, I appreciate his concern that astronomer Leslie Peltier has not been recognized. I want to let him and others know that Peltier has been recognized and memorialized by the residents of Delphos and by some astronomy organizations.

Letter: God tells America to repent on abortion

”If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” -2 Chronicles 7:14

Letter: Judge, prosecutor should explain themselves to Wine

0

I found my March 23 The Lima News very interesting reading. First, I saw a letter from William Baker (currently incarcerated) commending Brice Brenneman, Ron Lora and myself for “bringing to light” the injustices Doug Wine has suffered at the hands of Auglaize County Prosecutor Ed Pierce and Judge Frederick Pepple specifically and the Ohio justice system in general.

Letter: Marker near sundial recognizes Peltier

0

In response to a previous letter on Leslie Peltier, we do have a marker on his achievements as an astronomer. During Ohio’s bicentennial celebration in 2003, a marker was placed at the Delphos library, beside a sundial, also recognizing his accomplishments and discipline recording the movements of our planets, stars and comets.

Letter: Americans must speak up about Israel, Palestinians

0

I think what Israel is doing is horrific. This property was taken from the Palestinians 77 years ago.

Letter: Expansion of basketball tournament hurts quality

0

In this culture where “everyone gets a trophy,” the Ohio High School Athletic Association is doing its part to promote that concept. The recent decision to expand the high school basketball tournament from four to seven divisions shows that for the OHSAA, participation is more important than true competition and recognizing athletic excellence.

Letter: Memorial should honor Peltier’s comet sightings

0

Recently, I saw an online post of a memorial road marker dedicated to Dr. William Brooks and his Red House Observatory in the Finger Lakes region of New York. Brooks discovered 11 comets, and his community rallied around recognizing his achievements with a marker, once it was discovered that his observatory was known by only a hole in the ground where it once stood and overgrowth. But Brooks was only the second-greatest discoverer of comets.
