Our community will have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to view a total eclipse of the sun.
We have been hearing for a long time how rare this is, and many events have been planned. The Schoonover Observatory was given a $250,000 grant for renovations, and they had promised a program, only to make the decision not to proceed, a week and a half before the date of the eclipse.
If only various service organizations, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc., could have been brought into partnership with the observatory for this event. It’s an opportunity that is once in a lifetime for all local 501(c)3 organizations.
It is what it is.
Enjoy the event, share time with your family, friends and those visiting our community, as this opportunity will not return to the Lima area in our lifetimes.
