Letter: Parks system delivers something for everyone

I am writing in support of the two renewal levies on the ballot for our Johnny Appleseed Parks and to encourage everyone in Allen County to vote in the May 2 election for this purpose.

The Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District has proven to be a good steward of our financial and natural resources and offers something for nearly everyone in our community. My family has enjoyed our Johnny Appleseed Parks for different activities, at different locations, at different times in our lives.

Over the years, we have hiked, biked, picnicked, enjoyed the playgrounds and attended programs and festivals with our children and grandchildren. Even those who do not or can no longer participate in the numerous recreational and educational opportunities the JAMPD offers can appreciate its efforts to preserve and protect our natural areas for future generations.

The existence of a diverse, well-managed park system is important to many families who choose to live and work in Allen County. I will be voting on May 2 to ensure the Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan Park District can continue to operate and maintain the high quality of service and amenities it provides our citizens. Please vote yes to renew both levies!
