Letter: Bath Trustees are selling out Lost Creek

The Bath Trustees have painted this utopian picture of an overlay district that is filled with an expanded gas station, restaurants, retail, and professional offices in order to pique the interest of the township residents.

The truth is that the trustees have not done their due diligence and represented the interests of the Lost Creek residents. Traffic, public safety, and quality of life are concerns that are brought up at every meeting or hearing. The trustees are aware that 82% of the traffic on Lost Creek Boulevard is traveling above the posted speed limit, and they have done nothing to solve the issue even though there have been plenty of suggestions from the residents. Who wants commercial refuse pickup at 5 a.m.? The trustees allow it in the overlay plan. So, the guy that just dropped $170,000 on a beautiful home in Lost Creek now gets to listen to the fast food drive-thru traffic in the evening and dumpsters banging bright and early in the morning.

Lost Creek is a wonderful neighborhood that offers affordable housing for a variety folks. There is plenty of commercial property that needs developed or revitalized across the street. I ask you to consider your feelings towards this irresponsible development as if it was going in your backyard.

The Trustees had no problem knocking on Lost Creek doors when they were campaigning, but they won’t come around to address our concerns about the zoning amendment. Please join me in voting NO on the proposed Bath Zoning Amendment and keep Lost Creek a great place to live!

Jim Fisher, Bath Township
