On Aug. 5th, around 7 p.m., I went to the Walmart on Allentown Road. I noticed quite a few people there buying school supplies. When it was time for me to check out, the front of the store was a mob scene because there were not enough check out lanes available. The doors at the west side of the store are closed. I was told by an employee it is store policy so they can monitor the amount of people coming in at one entrance. (Although I didn’t see anyone actually doing that).
I understand the reason for this store policy. I get it. But why close the self check-out lanes at the west end too? And then only have two check out lanes open with cashiers? The other self-check out area that was open was chaos. No one seemed to know how to form a line or who was next because of the way it is set up.
It seems Walmart is not making it possible for their customers to social distance when they funnel everyone down to one door, two cashiers lanes, and one congested self check out area.
