Letter: Great turnout, even if the wings ran out

Since I had never had one of those famous St. Gerard’s wings, I put out the effort to enjoy an order.

Arriving at the corner of Main and Robb Avenues at 3 p.m. last Saturday, I began my agonizing stop-and-go traffic with hundreds of other cars before me. By 5 p.m., I finally entered the main parking lot. Rows of cars snaked around traffic cones for another hour.

When I finally approached the serving line at 6:15 p.m. with probably still maybe 20 cars ahead of me, a lady began walking beside these autos before me announcing that they had just run out of wings. Other menu items were still available, or you may exit at this time. After over three hours I was done and hit the exit in search of the nearest restroom.

For the 50 or more cars behind me, I hope they could settle for an egg roll with rice, popcorn or cotton candy. I saw cars were still coming in off the street too. I’m glad to have seen such a great turnout for a worthy cause.
