Letter: Friends of library celebrate 80th

The Lima Public Library has served our greater Lima community since 1901. In 1937, a group of local citizens began the Friends of the Lima Public Library, a volunteer association of men and women who love the LPL, believe in the value of books and reading for young and old, and work together as library advocates to support our beloved institution. Now, in our 80th year, we Friends of the Library invite the community to join with us in celebrating the library and our organization’s remarkable achievement.

Visit the Lima Public Library regularly. It’s not only a repository of books and periodicals, it’s an active, dynamic, technologically up-to-date educational force for everyone in our community. Research a topic, browse its audio-visual collections, visit the children’s department, go on-line and, of course, check out a book. And do you know about the new “Beyond Books Collection”? Check it out. The library’s also a meeting place, offering programs and activities for all ages.

For more information about the Friends of the Lima Public Library, find out about us at the Library or on the web (www.limalibrary.com/content/friends-library). Join us. We welcome new members.
