Letter: Ohio labor laws need to change

I signed up at a Staffing Service in Piqua. The woman I talked with sent me to Sidney for orientation. The woman who was explaining the job said it is a 10-hour shift and you get four 10-minute paid breaks and you use one of those 10-minute breaks to eat and go to the bathroom.

To me that didn’t seem fair, so I Googled the Ohio Labor Laws which say a person under the age of 18 has to have a 30 minute unpaid lunch break but a person over 18 doesn’t have to have a lunch break — it is up to the company if they want to give their employees over 18 a lunch break!

Isn’t that a form of age discrimination? People over the age of 18 need to eat just like people under the age of 18.
