I think that one of the most damaging things that President Trump does is insult different groups of Americans — most recently, Muslims and Native Americans. He seeks to set neighbor against neighbor, when our country’s strength has always been the ability of different people to come together to support common ideals. When President Trump’s comments divide us, we become a weaker nation.
I hope that in Allen and Hardin Counties, we can continue to find ways to come together as Ohioans, Americans, and neighbors. I am particularly grateful for groups like Lima’s Interfaith Fellowship, which bring together people of different religious background. We all have something to learn from each other, and when we respect each other, we — and our society — are stronger.
