Letter: Shooting dog uncalled for

Let me say right in the beginning, “Yes, I know one is to keep their dogs at home.” However, when you live in the country and you have a dog for a watch dog, you don’t keep them pinned up at night. What good would that do?

We have rabbits, cats, raccoons, deer, and yes, even turtles going through our property and who knows what else. On June 4th, our dog chased something and on Monday morning when we let her in, she had been in manure. She has been sick ever since. Our vet said that the manure was a toxin to her. We took her back to our vet on June 15th, and they x-rayed her and she has a pellet in her side. I feel that this is uncalled for.

Why didn’t you just chase her off your property or call us as she has her tags and ID on her collar. I chase dogs off of our property. This happened in the area of West State and North Grubb Roads.
