Comey’s testimonyadds up to truth

I am sure there are some who will question the veracity of James Comey’s testimony before Congress. President Trump has already denied many of the accusations made by Comey and that is not surprising. Let me make a couple of observations about Comey’s congressional testimony.

First, even if you believe that Comey is a dishonest man, which I do not believe, you would also have to believe that he is willing to place himself in grave legal jeopardy by perjuring himself under oath. Comey knows that President Trump may have recorded their private conversations. Trump has already implied that he did make recordings. Imagine the horrendous consequences, not just legal but also to his personal reputation, that Comey would suffer if Trump released tapes that directly contradicted his sworn testimony.

Finally, in his roles as a federal prosecutor as well as Director of the FBI, Comey has a long history of writing highly detailed extemporaneous notes. The fact that he did write these notes concerning his conversations with Trump and verified them with associates surprised no one who knows Comey. Unfortunately for Trump, he doesn’t know James Comey nor does he understand him.
