Letter: All hail, King Trump

Since we have decided to put in power an authoritarian king , I think we can save ourselves some time and energy if we just rely on our past history.

When we suspected Japanese people of supporting our enemy, we simply put them in internment camps. When Jewish people were considered a threat to German purity, the world watched as they were exterminated. When we wanted land occupied by Native Americans, we moved them to reservations. And when we needed labor to work that stolen land, men were put in chains to do so. Today we target Muslim people and we can probably do a much better job of controlling them because we have so much history and practice in doing so.

We all should smile broadly because we have been highly successful in putting in power a person who meets, by all definitions, an authoritarian. I ask supporters of king Trump, where would America be without the input of immigrants both those that came willingly and those who were forced here?
