Letter: Volunteers are St. Rita’s right hand

On May 16, the St. Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary had their annual banquet and check presentation. This year’s theme was the Wizard of Oz, with several hundred in attendance.

President and CEO of St. Rita’s Health Partners, Mr. Bob Baxter, accepted the check of $300,000 from the auxiliary. This is an extremely sizable amount to be used to purchase additional 3D mammography units and to help fund the Hybrid OR.

I would like to personally extend congratulations to the members of the Volunteer/Auxiliary for their labors of love in attending to patients’ needs, fundraising in our many sales, manning the area’s finest thrift shop and gift shop, and in numerous other capacities.

This year our volunteers dedicated 113,675 hours to St. Rita’s. Our volunteers come from not only the Lima community, but from several surrounding counties. The invitation is always open to any who would like to join us in our endeavors to offer our communities the finest in health care. Volunteers, you make a difference in so many lives. This is truly what we were meant to do.

— Mrs. Jan Kennedy, President of St Rita’s Volunteer/Auxiliary
