Letter: Remembering the Leader store

I enjoyed reading Greg Hoersten’s articles on the Leader Store. They meant a lot to me.

My father was maanger of the men’s clothing department in the ’40s. As a teenager, I clerked in the clothing department in the late ’40s. I recall a young man came in to buy a suit for his new job just out of the service He said that he was going to work at the radio station, so I sold him a single breasted glenn plaid suit.

I concluded the sale and I asked for his name. He said “Downs, Hugh .”
