Letter: I owe my life to their care

My morning began at 1:30 when I woke up with pain in my chest, back, down the inside of my arms and up into my neck. I sat up on the side of the bed, turned on the light and told my wife we needed to go see the doctor. Shortly thereafter I arrived at the emergency room of St Rita’s Hospital compliments of the Wapakoneta EMS. I ended up having my heart attack in the emergency room. I met two heart surgeons that morning, Dr Ugwanyi and Dr Dox. Both of these men gave off self confidence in waves. I asked them to on with it and fix my heart so I could continue my life. And so it began.

The surgeons performed God’s work for him that day. They constructed four bypasses around my heart. This is God’s work, something I think we limit ourselves in when we restrict use of stem cell research. I believe that God gave us certain skills that we should develop to our fullest capabilities or we have let God down in his full plan for us. Meanwhile it was the nurses who held my heart in their hands and soothed and bathed me until my soul could warm it back to life. They were God’s angels.

I thought I had seen the ultimate in customer service at our Lowes store in Wapak where I work part time, but nothing compares when a doctor or nurse at St Rita’s Hospital asks if there is anything else they can do for me. Because if I needed it to get well, they got it for me.

I am now at home and quickly recovering. I owe my life to these dedicated professionals.
