Letter: Latham Avenue project botched

The recent drainage and road project on Latham Avenue has been a major construction farce.

The design of curb drains, huge catch basins and ditches in the resident’s yards is ridiculous. The use of curb inlets to drain streets has been used for 50-plus years. This puts surface water directly into the system instead of into our yards.

The contractor hired by the City of Lima was terrible. The curbs installed were torn out numerous times and the final result was curbs that are anywhere from 5 inches to 8 inches (standard is 6 inches.)

As a long-time resident, this drainage problem was long overdue to be repaired, by I am very disappointed in the results.
