Letter: The importance of the “NO” vote on Issue 1

It is our sincere hope that members of the Ohio legislature realize the importance and significance of the “NO” vote on Issue #1 on August 8, 2023. The citizens of Ohio said they want their voice heard in regards to state policies, laws and constitution.

We want elected officials who will work for the public good, not the party good.

We seek a legislature and governor that will let teachers teach, doctors practice medicine and librarians share books. We wish to create laws to limit pollution, reduce gun violence, create fair election districts and maintain separation of church and state.

The people — the citizens — the voters of Ohio want respect and to be involved in state government, not ignored and shut out as was the intent of the Issue #1 August 8th election.

President John F. Kennedy said “Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past, let us accept our own responsibility for the future.

John M. Pilarowski, Bluffton
