Letter: Adhere to values; vote for Issue One

This is written in regard to the August 8th special election and the vote on issue one.

I wonder how many of you feel our country of America is a different America from 50 to 100 years ago. Do you think it has changed for the better? I feel we are on a dark and harmful downward spiral. Our country was once based on moral, righteous, and ethical values. Integrity, nobility, truth and character was once taught. The faith our parents and grandparents had to get them through a depression and two world wars was strong and evident. Perhaps these things are not being taught anymore.

A wise man once told me, “The majority rules” and I stand by that saying. However he added that the majority is not always right.

I may appear as the minority as I choose to vote YES on issue one. The constitution was written over 200 years ago when the majority of the people had different values and ethics. Today values and ethics appear to be different for many of the people. Let’s attempt to adhere to the plum line of good, righteous, and moral values. I encourage you to pray, meditate, and ask for divine wisdom as you vote for issue one.
