Letter: Two presidents with so much in common

Will history repeat? In 1973, President Richard Nixon has the FBI and the Justice Department in his back pocket. He lies, spins, tells the American public he’s not a crook, hides exculpatory evidence and smiles into the camera hoping the Republican Party will have his back.

Jump forward 50 years. In 2023, President Joe Biden has the FBI and Justice Department in his back pocket. He lies, spins, tells the American public he’s improved their lives, hides exculpatory evidence and smiles into the camera hoping the Democratic Party will have his back.

Unfortunately for President Nixon, two journalists, Woodward and Bernstein, inspired a nation with their persistent intent to find the truth resulting in the president’s resignation in 1974.

Fortunately for President Biden, we no longer have a free press that employs truth-seeking journalists but rather script-reading lemmings that would rather sit on a rock instead of turning it over to find the truth.
