Letter: People’s support made golf outing a success

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Allen County held its annual Golf For Kids’ Sake event on Saturday, June 3 at Hidden Creek Golf Club in Lima. Curtis Butler, chair of the Allen County Golf For Kids’ Sake Committee, as well as president of the BBBS board of directors, opened the event welcoming the 139 golfers who participated. The weather cooperated, and it was a terrific day for golf.

We would like to thank our event sponsors who helped to make this annual golf outing a success. Arby’s provided lunches, a sleeve of golf balls and gift cards to all 139 players. Buffalo Wild Wings provided the dinner after the day of golf at its restaurant on Allentown Road for all players, as well as donating gift cards for our charity holes.

Thank you also to event sponsors Lima Moose #199, Shawnee Properties and special thanks to Brianne Marshall: Allstate Insurance, who generously donated a sleeve of golf balls to all players. We are gratified for your support to this signature fundraiser.

Applause are in order to the various companies who were eagle, birdie and hole sponsors and to those who donated monetarily or had items for our silent auction.

Monies raised from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Allen County’s Golf for Kids’ Sake stays in Allen County and will be used to recruit, screen, match, coach and support the friendships (matches) between volunteer mentors and our most vulnerable children. More children need help each year, and because of you, we had a successful event!
