Letter: Put away the old America and put on the new one

Have you heard the good news that god has blessed us with a nation that honors a man’s individual freedom? Whether the freedom to praise or just stay still, freedom to lift up your hands and shout or silently kneel before the altar.

They’re the same freedoms that drive us into a fit of rage when others enact these freedoms, like the freedom to kneel during the National Anthem. Some believe it’s sheer disrespect to our soldiers as they passed a soldier by, begging for change.

It’s the freedom to vote for this person or that belief, contrary to your own right or alliance to a certain party. Something we tend to forget having a choice as an American is our favorite baseball team. We cheer them on and, win or lose, we remain fans of the game we love.

How could a God so righteous have a hold of a nation with so much choice? Isn’t His purpose for man is to only worship him? It’s through His love for man, who He recreated in His image. God made us freely, to enjoy the pleasures of life with a respect for him. Enjoying the mountains and streams or summer breeze reminds you just how blessed you are to be in America.

His forgiveness of sins is why we enjoy the fruits of a great and mighty God. Yet it’s in our own refusal that our own ability to forgive causes our own set of individual circumstances. Brothers go years in hatred for something as simple as words. Neighbors are in turmoil because two sets of neighbors refuse to let it go. Then we pray for God to forgive our cause.

You must have heard that Jesus came to be the sacrifice so your own brand of hate will not land you in the eternal lake of fire. So we must put away the old America and put on the new, to ensure that our God will continue to bless the country we love, the United States of America.
