Letter: Good luck, Allen County citizens

There’s a TV commercial where a man says local media is essential to knowing local politics, events and issues only local news “should” deliver. Lima/Allen County is about to know what lack of information access feels like. Media is a business, likely mismanaged, but an entity nevertheless. The Lima News has announced their done deal being enacted, changes already established and good luck suckers (sorry, I mean, citizens). Just another change in Allen County, on its pathway to success.

Wake up and realize it: Major retail selections have dwindled significantly and unlikely to rebound soon, citizens often notified after decisions. Recall the state adjusting original I-75 lane plans indicating economic rebound distrust, diminished productive population excluding seniors and youth under 18, more apartment complexes with less housing neighborhoods developing, no local talk radio shows on locally owned channels, about 10 minutes of news per WLIO broadcast. Now, a two-day printed newspaper although online accessible. Trust your eyes if not your minds.

In adjacent counties, the Findlay Courier is a daily newspaper with digital access. Wapakoneta Daily News gives subscribers six days a week print and online access with subscription. Lima says too bad elderly, hospitalized and unlucky travelers.

Voting more ignorantly of important facts for issues, levies or candidates is likely. I guess vote no on everything just to be safe, including old ballot incumbent names. We have paid them well only to get what in return? They know these sheepish citizens will never stand up.

I too desire a better community. Some entrepreneurs are pouring millions into attempts, thank them. But marketing it twice a week and not even once on Sunday will not help.
