Letter: Newspaper another lost piece of Americana

I was saddened to read the article in which The Lima News stated they were going to concentrate on the digital version of the newspaper.

While I was glad to read how excited they were for the transition, I was also a bit angered and insulted. No mention was made of how it would affect the many lifelong readers of the printed edition or those without digital access.

For many of us, the retrieval, handling and perusal of a physical paper is daily routine. We like the sight, feel, sound and even smell of the printed copy. We enjoy taking our time doing the daily puzzles and crosswords.

Gee, I can hardly wait to sit down with my morning coffee and stare at my phone or computer to obtain the world and local news.

It’s just another piece of Americana lost to convenience and the almighty dollar in the name of technological progress.
