Letter: Figley columns nothing more than partisan dribble

Columnist Mark Figley is a partisan hack, one who cares more about supporting a particular party or ideology than supporting what is morally right or true.

An objective person can criticize either party when warranted.

Former President Barack Obama should have intervened when Putin invaded Crimea. Had Putin’s aggression been halted, it is doubtful we would now be involved in Ukraine’s struggle against unprovoked aggression.

By the way, Ukraine is defending itself with weapons former President Donald Trump tried to prevent them from having.

Had the Chinese balloon’s payload contained a biological agent designed to be dispersed by the four winds, I doubt that Figley would be fulminating regarding its delayed takedown over the Atlantic.

Prior to Figley’s attempt at placing blame for the East Palestine train derailment at the feet of Pete Buttigieg, the Obama administration regulated that vulnerable trains must be equipped with electronically controlled pneumatic brakes, Trump, in his infinite wisdom, reversed the regulation. Norfolk Southern made $12 billion in revenue last year but couldn’t quite find the resources to invest in safety measures- corporate greed run amok.

To be clear, when the New York Times reported no link between Trump and Russia a week before the 2016 election, the FBI agent heading the investigation, Charles McGonigal, has now been arrested over ties to a Russian oligarch. However, I’m not anticipating any future column by Figley addressing treason.

His simplistic followers might choke on any atypical commentary.
