Letter: Politicians aren’t focused on views from the middle

I wish everyone would read Kathleen Parker’s column in Thursday’s The Lima News. I think we all will be relieved to see that our country is not divided as much as we have been led to believe.

It is only the extremists who are the true division. Most people are probably like me, and our views fall someplace in the middle, depending on the issue. Unfortunately, too many of our leaders are in their positions because they have enough money backing them. Perhaps they have sold their souls.

As we think about our future votes, let us focus less on name recognition and more on standards of conduct and belief. Look at track records, experiences, morality and ability to campaign on issues instead of attacking the person.

Let us not let extremists determine our future just because they make more noise!
