Letter: Worldwise crises put problems in perspective

In Ukraine, countless thousands have been killed, and millions have fled their homeland due to a war started by a maniacal madman. In Afghanistan, a recent earthquake killed at least 1,000 people, and the death count grows daily. In North Korea, starvation is the rule, not the exception.

In Cuba, Russia, China and many other countries, the press is not free and only reports or publishes what the authorities approve.

Meanwhile, in the United States, many are complaining about the price of gasoline. Because of this, some will curtail or cancel their vacation plans. What a shame some will not get to see the Grand Canyon, Old Faithful, Dollywood or Mickey Mouse. It’s an American tragedy of epic proportions.
