Letter: Snow heroes much appreciated

Thank you Keaton Layman from the bottom of our hearts. We had drifts over 1 foot high at each of our doors. There was no way we could have gotten out our doors. Keaton came and shoveled them out in that freezing cold weather Tuesday morning. In the afternoon, he came and cleaned out our drive as he knew we had health-care workers coming to help with my husband. Thank you so much as at this time we could not do this ourselves. He refused any payment. God still has good people in this world. May God bless us all and bless Keaton and his family.

Mary and John Norman,

Lima

We would like to give a shout out to our neighbors, Tom and Carrie. They have been removing our snow since we moved in a year and a half ago. We were always able to do for ourselves but at some point age becomes an issue. We appreciate their help.

I think the community needs to recognize Mike Melvin, who supports so many veterans and sees to it that their needs are met in this winter weather all over town.

My snow heroes are Larry Volbert, Dave from Quick As A Wink, and Tamara and John Foley. They took care of my driiveway, front sidewalk by the street, sidewalk to my house and in the back yard and made a path for my doggie to potty ! I so appreciate them.

After the first snow storm hit Lima, I was shoveling snow when my neighbor Mike came by and said, “You shouldn’t be doing this! I’ll do this, so get back in your house.” Then Chris across the street joined in and said, “Yes, we’ can do it.” Then the grandson of Harry who was running a snow blower pointed himself and the blower and signaled “We can do it!”

I had a doctor’s appointment. I finally got an appointment for the COVID vaccine and I worried I wouldn’t be able to get out of the driveway.

We have a saying in Japan: “Neighbors who lives nearby is (dearer than) relative who lives far away.” My neighbors are Good Samaritans. Thank you neighbors! I am so fortunate to live here among you!

I also want to thank The Lima News so I can express my gratitude to my neighbors.

Keiko Hahn,

To our snow angels, Mike and Matt Triplehorn! What great neighbors for plowing our sidewalks and driveways and not asking for anything in return! They are truly our heroes!
