Letter Donaldson: A dark day in U.S. history

It has been my good fortune to have been to Washington D.C. many times. When I was there before 9/11, a person visiting the U.S. Capitol Building could go through security one time and then be able to go anywhere in the facility as well as having access to all the House and Senate Office Buildings.

After 9/11, the security was increased to the point where there were limitations to the access citizens had to the various sections of the Capitol. This is one of many cases where the terrorists won. A U.S. Citizen’s freedom to go anywhere within the Capitol Building was severely limited.

Now, after the outgoing president incited the anarchist riot that resulted in his traitorous supporters breaching security and breaking into the Capitol Building and desecrating this shrine of liberty, it appears that our freedoms are going to be restricted even further.

This action, with the full support and encouragement of the outgoing president, has become one of the darkest days in the history of our republic. It is a sad day where a president has done as much damage to our freedoms as any terrorist ever has. A traitorous ending to a rogue president’s term of office that, hopefully, will never be repeated.
