Sadly, we are announcing the cancellation of our 18th annual Lima Community Christmas Dinner, due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic.
I met earlier last month with co-chairmen Kenny Miller and Vicki Adkins, and as we agonized over the decision to cancel. We decided that it wasn’t worth risking the safety and well-being of our guests and volunteers to proceed this year.
For 17 years, our annual Christmas dinner has become a tradition for many households in the Lima area. The event has featured a turkey and ham dinner with several traditional side dishes, a visit from Santa Claus with gifts for the children, and warm, inviting holiday music. The event started in 2003 as a way to help bring the spirit of Christmas to those in our community who might otherwise be alone or without the resources to enjoy a holiday meal. Last year, we served approximately 500 guests.
We wish to thank all of our volunteers and those who have sponsored the event in the past, and plan to return next year to continue the tradition once the threat of COVID-19 has passed.
