Letter: Give me liberty

Is America really the land of the free and the home of the brave anymore? I have but one compass by which my feet are guided and that is the compass of experience. I know of no way of judging the future but by the past, and my past experience has taught me the intrinsic value of maintaining a free society.

History has shown time and again the economic and human rights failures of socialistic/communistic societies. Being a descendent of grandparents who fled from Germany to the U.S. before Hitler’s Socialist Nazi Party took power and the biographer of a POW that spent seven years in Communist Russian Gulags, I have horrific first-hand accounts of the atrocities associated with dictatorial regimes.

Joe Biden has promised to give amnesty to over 20 million illegals, 83% of whom vote Democrat. That would ensure a majority one party system eliminating their unscrupulous need to continue fraudulently stealing the presidential election.

Through the guise of COVID, liberal governors and mayors are dictating such things as where we can eat or drink, if we can attend church, if there is mandatory masking, if children can attend school and whether we can attend nursing homes or funerals while hypocritically ignoring their own mandates. Brave, freedom-loving, true Americans need to defy this tyranny and summon forth the patriotic spirit of our Founding Fathers, who while facing similar enslaving circumstances, were inspired to take action by Patrick Henry’s impassioned plea, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death!”
