Letter: A pleasant experience

There are not enough people like this any more, but I was lucky I was parked next to two of them at the Walmart parking lot on Allentown Road.

At approximately 1:30 p.m. on Oct.14, I had just finished shopping and was placing my purchases in the trunk of my car. I am 92 years old and I carefully put my cane in the back seat of my car. Then I entered the driver’s door in anticipation of going driving home. Instead, when I turned the key there was nothing.

I head a dead battery.

The people in the car next to me soon realized I had a problem. They came to me, and not me to them. Soon a phone call to Delphos-Chevrolet-Buck and within 45 minutes help arrived and I was on my way to Delphos with a new battery.

Soon my parking partners were gone. I never got the chance to thank them. I am forever grateful for your kindness and courtesy. How great to have people like that in our world.

Jerry Rode, Delphos
