Antietam, Bull Run, Gettysburg, Vicksburg, Shiloh, Chancellor, Chickamauga, Fort Henry, Fort Sumter, Hampton Roads and so many more battles: Deaths, over 360,000 and injuries, too many to count. Arms, legs, torsos, blown apart by cannon balls and bayonet wounds to the body. More than 360,000 dead fathers, sons, and husbands of the Northern Army torn to pieces facing the Confederacy charge, fighting for a person’s God-given right to be free.
Here they rest in hallowed ground, the cold earth above their head with just a stone or cross to mark what remains of a fallen soldier. Perhaps the sailor with the last cry of Mom or Dad slipping beneath the unforgiving sea upon the deck of a man of war, doomed and aflame from the broadside of the enemy. The sea claim yet another victim only to rise in the end when the sea shall give up her dead.
The sacrifice those gave for their fellow man, the pain endured, the wounds inflicted and the death as final result shall never be forgotten. Their valor and heart must never be trivialized, and must be compensated by all those of mature mind and soul. All those who are related to and are descended from cry out for just compensation. There is no greater love than that of a person willing to give his life for those who cannot speak for or defend themselves. This was shown time and time again in the field or the high seas.
It remains our sacred duty to provide compensation to the relatives of these selfless and honorable defenders of the meek.
