Letter: Criteria to use when voting

How many voters have read the U.S Constitution?

It is easy to find and read. It consists of a few pages in a 3×5 booklet that will fit in a shirt pocket. Not thousands of pages of legislation that the unelected, unconstitutional bureaucracy, and only readable by the writers. Our U.S. Constitution makes every citizen equal under the law. Equality is guaranteed as written in The Bill of Rights. The Bill of Rights is the first 10 amendments of the Constitution.

The U.S. Constitution is the greatest Constitution in the world. It was ratified in 1788 and the Bill of Rights was ratified as the first 10 amendments in 1791. It is the law of the land.

The problem we have in the USA is not the Constitution as written and amended. The problem is us, the citizen voter. We should vote for politicians that will stand by the Constitution. It has checks and balances that protect our liberty and rights. The main responsibility of our Government is to protect the citizens’ rights. The voters have the responsibility to elect the right people to do that. Most politicians today believe the constitution is too hard to get through it. The Founders made it that way on purpose. Today they try to ignore it. If we let them, we lose our liberty and much more. We defiantly need a limited government at all levels. The difference between liberty and freedom … liberty is freedom under the law.

Because the way our Constitution is written and amended, with the above in mind, we have many politicians to replace. Term limits for Congress would be a good start.
