In the late 1890’s, William Randolph Hearst and Joseph Pulitzer ” were the media giants. Their stories were sometimes less than factual which brought forth the term “yellow journalism.” Yesterday’s “yellow journalism” is today’s “fake news”. It’s just as destructive and dangerous.
Today our news comes from six media giants. These six corporations control 90% of American media and 70% of cable. They decide what you read, see and hear. The corporations are GE, News Corps, Disney, Viacom, Time Warner and CBS. If headlines and stories seem the same on different stations, it’s because they are the same.
Several years ago when I hosted a local radio talk show, the Federal Communications Commision forbade ownership of over 40 stations. Today one corporation owns 1,200 stations. Through the years, media giants have been allowed to obtain more media outlets, more power, more wealth and most American media has become more liberal, anti-conservative and anti-Trump.
“Letters” in our newspaper refer to supposed Trump remarks about “military losers’ etc”…. Proven untrue by even John Bolton, no friend of Trump.
Some enjoy believing and spreading the untruths about Trump. If only they would talk about Trump’s eliminating
terrorist leaders; making the U.S. an energy exporter; slowing China’s global dominance; providing more funding
for military and veterans and bringing many military home. His historic peace deals resulted in a Nobel Peace Prize
nomination.
Don’t let anger, turmoil and untruths destroy our country. Americans need truth to preserve our freedom.
