Letter: Mother’s Day flowers were a treasured gift

While shopping in the garden department at Lowe’s on Saturday, May 9, I spoke with a very kind lady. We were both buying flowers, she hanging baskets for I’m guessing family and friends, myself just a couple flats.

At the checkout, we were in separate lines. Upon her finishing her purchase, she walked over to me, handing me $20, saying, “Here, I want to buy your flowers for Mother’s Day.”

I was shocked and totally surprised. This had never happened to me before. I thanked her and said, “You don’t have to do that.”

She smiled and said, “But I want to.”

I thank her, feeling very blessed. It’s such a lovely, kind gift.
