Letter: It’s our new civil war, so mature up

I am 70 years old and have been a registered nurse for 37 years. Presently I work part-time as a home health nurse. (In the past, I worked both local hospitals, many nursing homes and did travel registered nurse jobs for four years.)

Three months before COVID-19 hit the USA, a dark mental cloud was in the back of my mind. It concerned the USA and a divide-and-conquer fear.

I am neither Democrat nor Republican. The division and back-stabbing between our government needs to stop. We are in a civil war, which I fear may result in the USA becoming divided and conquered by something we will not like. It is time to mature up!

I conclude that wearing a mask, practicing social distancing and washing our hands for 20 seconds is not asking too much to curb this coronavirus.

If you disagree with me, so be it. I prefer to stay healthy for me, my family and our home health clients. So I will wear a mask, social distance and wash my hands 20 seconds.

God bless the USA, world and anyone affected by COVID-19.

Linda Neely
