Letter: Racism prevails during pandemic

I am an inmate of the Allen County Jail. I want to informing the public of the dreadful and deadly reality we face as second rate citizens. Our new justice system has placed prejudice, pride and profit over principle.

A non-violent offender, my crime consist of a probation violation for a positive VA. Now sentenced to 30 days or death without a hearing, nor knowledge of any resolution. Recently released was a man with a third degree domestic until sentencing.

Clearing of the jail was a conspiracy play on Lima. In regards to those released, most of the minorities were not allowed. Leaving mostly Afro-Americans to fulfill the burden of operations.

As such, I am expressing my outrage at even in a pandemic. People would continue to hold onto racist views and practices. So as of April 1, 2020, I will be exercising a long awaited hunger strike to address. I starved justice minorities face in Lima and Allen County.

I just hope to shed light on the corrupt practices of a lawless town. Bring light to a principle of irrational, backward thinking.

Daniel Edwards, Lima
