Letter:

A stage that has been awash in laughs and redemption the last few months turned angry this week when “12 Angry Jurors” took the stage at Encore Theatre. One thing that was not in doubt as the story’s deliberations progressed was that the cast, consisting of Encore favorites as well as new faces alike, had captured both the essence of the Tony Award-winning show as well as the attention of the audience.

Encore’s presentation of a third Tony Award-winning show in four months shows the quality of material that the theatre is bringing to the region and from the fantastic set to the diverse personalities that filled it, everything was top notch as always. While the story chronicles a trial with death row implications, the show itself is lively and the actors are at their best as the tension mounts.

I was very happy to see some of the areas well-known actors cast in such a well-known show, as you had an idea what you were going to get from them as they took the stage, and they did not disappoint as they delivered their own rendition while holding true to such a brilliant and timeless work.

That Encore continues to provide such high-quality entertainment at a very reasonable price throughout the year emphasizes the amount of effort that those behind the scenes are exerting to keep theatre alive and well in Lima.

The show runs the weekends of March 6th and March 13th. Friday and Saturday shows are at 8 pm and Sunday shows are at 2 pm.

Jim Patton, Elida
