Letter: Checks and balances work

It is obvious that the founders system of checks and balance to our Constitutional Republic were in action during the Senate trial of President Donald J. Trump.

The Democrats hijacked the House impeachment process and denied due process to the president by using secret hearings and then leaking only information favorable to their case. They also denied the defense the right to call witnesses or to even question witnesses they (Democrats) had called. In one of the most bizarre events, Adam Schiff even read into the record his own totally fabricated version of the phone call between the two presidents in question.

It was a foregone conclusion that the Democrat majority would vote to accept these falsehoods and fabrications. So they voted to impeach.

Now the wisdom of the founders is once again understandable by having the trial in the Senate. The President, unhampered by lack of due process, was able to present his defense unhindered by the Kangaroo Court the Democrats ran in the house. The requirement for a two thirds majority of the Senate further protects against a partisan majority negating the will of the voters by removing a duly elected President.

If not for the check on rampant partisanship of the House, every president could be driven out of Office as soon as the opposition captured the House.

I could go further in this lesson on American Government (Thanks to Mrs. Mertz my high school teacher.) but space limitations will not allow that.
