Letter: Churches unite in Van Wert

Churches across Van Wert County have come together to make our corner of Ohio a better place to live. They’ve held prayer gatherings to pray for their neighbors and communities and have held prayer walks seeking God’s intervention in the lives of men, women and children.

In doing so they are fulfilling Psalms 133, the place where the Lord releases His blessing. The churches are beginning to realize they can accomplish more by uniting and helping one another to fulfill one of the main purposes of the church — outreach.

Hundreds of individuals enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving Dinner at Trinity Friends Church as individuals from about 10 churches came together to bless their neighbors. This was their 20th anniversary in providing Thanksgiving Dinners. Calvary Church was drop off for Samaritan Purse Christmas Shoe Boxes. Many children across America will have a Christmas blessing because of caring individuals and churches. Our many food banks help struggling families across Van Wert County all year.

With the division going on in Washington, it is awesome to see so many churches uniting to show the love of Christ. A new outreach to those not attending church on a regular basis was launched in November and December in Van Wert County. Saturate Van Wert County, connected with Saturate Toledo, where over 200 hundred churches united to give the message of Hope in Christ.

Hundreds prayed for the heart of Van Wert County, dozens prepared and placed over 5,000 doorhangers on doors in our area. Each doorhanger contained a DVD, in eight languages, a gospel message and invitation to those who don’t have a home church to join their neighbors in church as we celebrate the birth of Christ.
