Letter: ‘Medicare for All’ has consequences

In the event that one of the leading Democrats were to defeat President Trump next year, it is predictable that most taxpayers would experience a significant increase in taxes to support the “Medicare for all” promise. My concern is with the local schools and other entities which rely upon the property taxes implemented through tax levys. In order for many to have free medical care, we would sacrifice schools, fire departments, children’s protection agencies, and many other local necessary entities.

My point is that the taxpayer would not support the additional taxes to his property as the tax burden would be significant and directly effect the family’s disposable income. I have yet to hear this issue raised by the Republican Party, but great consideration should be given to the adverse consequences of such an extreme measure would have on the local level.
