Letter: Ehora fights for Lima

Peggy Ehora has had a life-long passion for Lima. As her close friend for 40 plus years, I have witnessed this first-hand as she served as a leader in high school, college and her professional life.

I recently returned home to Lima after retiring from a 30-year teaching career. As the daughter of former 4th Ward Councilman Tom Dee, I witnessed the crucial skills essential to this position. Peggy has long-held the distinction of being my parents fourth daughter because she has always been part of our family. There is no one prouder of her run for council than my Dad.

Whether it was helping develop all new schools as a member of the Lima City School Board, asking her company to donate its old headquarters for money to benefit downtown Lima development, chairing the chamber, the United Way, helping to facilitate the governor’s State of the State address in 2013 or working to keep her employer’s facilities in downtown Lima. She is fighting for Lima.

I have shared in her pride as she has been recognized throughout her career and most all of those awards have been given for her service to the Lima community: Allen Lima Leadership Alumni of the Year, Girl Scouts Trailblazer Award, Lima City Schools Distinguished Hall of Fame, Dominion Energy Volunteer of the Year and the Chamber Athena Award just to name a few.

She is loyal to a fault – to her family, her friends and most definitely her city. Please recognize her desire to continue to serve the Lima community by voting Peggy Ehora to the 4th Ward City Council.
