Letter: No problems with Lima Building Department

Health Partners has completed four construction projects within the City of Lima within the past five years. Our current project is a $2 million dollar renovation to the Ellis Building located at the corner of West and Wayne Streets in downtown Lima. We have found the City of Lima’s building department to be cooperative and efficient in processing our plans, site inspections, and our final occupancies, allowing our projects to be completed within our original time line with little disruption.

The conversation about moving the county’s contract to another municipality would drain our community of significant resources and again see good jobs leaving our community, “cutting off our nose, to spite our face.” Leadership that looks for a win-lose is what is creating deadlock within our nation and now locally. We want leaders who can rise above their own political beliefs and do the hard work of creating win-win situations for us all.

I fear this move represents some “sour grapes” from the last mayoral election. Allen County can be better that this. I think we should hire a therapist for the city and county officials to work through their personal issues, so that they can focus on making Allen County a place we are all happy to call home.
