Letter: No humor in dog story

This letter involves the story by Lawrence S. Huffman and his dog Romer in The Lima News on Dec. 16. I sincerely hope that the story Mr. Huffman describes is satire and not a true story. It’ s not April 1 so it can’t be an April Fool’s joke.

If his story is true, Huffman is a terrible dog owner. I believe he has broken the law. If there is a leash law in Lima (which I hope there is), Romer should not be off his property without a handler and on a leash. Huffman should be arrested. He would need an attorney. ( Oh right, he is an attorney).

Besides that, who in the world, except a terrible dog owner, would allow a dog he supposedly loves run behind him across streets and then down the middle of a busy Lima Street? Who in the world would be so cruel as to try to outrun his dog and not worry if the dog would safely return home or not. Note to Mr. Hufman: Your dog wants to be with you and he can’t figure out why you are running away from him. You need to safely confine him on his own property.

This story ruined my Saturday. I did not find it amusing in the least. If Romer needs a good home bring him to me.
