Letter: You really want to kill someone?

I have discussed the problem of texting while driving with local police and highway patrol officers. All of them seem to be as concerned as I am about this problem. In the last few days I have spoken to two people who had “near misses” with drivers texting while driving. Regardless of age, people I’ve discussed this with agree: Texting while driving is wrong.

I don’t want to read in the Lima News or see on the news that a child was killed by a motorist more interested in their cell phone than driving. It only takes a second to make a mistake that could end a life and change the future of everyone involved.

Please, stop texting while you’re driving. If you’re a passenger, tell the driver you don’t want to ride with a distracted driver. Let’s all stop talking about this problem and do something.
