Letter: Take back our city; vote Cheney

The front page headline of The Lima News on Oct. 6 stated: “Two in Five Allen Households can’t meet basic needs” According to Mayor Berger, we have the best economy in 40 years. Both of these headlines can’t be true.

Shootings, murders, stabbings, gangs, drug overdoses, rapes, assaults, robbery are all part of the daily headlines for the city of Lima.

This culture created under the leadership of David Berger is the result of decades of failure to address the tough issues. When the City fails to meet the needs of its residents, schools and communities fail. It is not working and hasn’t for decades.

When there are 38,355 residents, 21,220 registered voters, and in the last mayoral election only 2,503 votes were cast for David Berger, I shake my head. There has been no candidate who could stand against the Berger Machine until now.

It is time for a change. It is time to remove the rose colored glasses and see Lima for what is has become under the current administration. We, the voters can take back our city.

We have a candidate, a businessman, proven leader in Keith Cheney who will take off the rose colored glasses and tackle the difficult problems which have plagued this city for decades. Vote for change! Vote for a better Lima! Vote for Keith Cheney for mayor!

LuAnn Lause, Lima
