Letter: Berger exemplifies leadership and success

Dave Berger is our Mayor and with that job comes the responsibilty of leading over 375 city employees with an annual budget in excess of $140 million dollars.

During his tenure as the moayor, he was asked to speak in front of congressional committees for the US Conference of Mayors; co-chaired the committee to save the JSMC; added to the already spectacular municipal water system with the building of the Williams reservoir; partnered with the Lima City Schools to build a new high school on a main entrance way into the city while removing the eye sore on Market Street; encouraged downtown redevelopment from the retention of the new YMCA, new parking garage, new hotel and the most current downtown projects; challenged the CEO of the British Petroleum Company to keep the refinery from closing its operations; initiated road improvements on Cable Road, Allentown Road, Vine Street underpass and the excitement of the Bellefontaine Avenue grade separation; the future downtown development of the Rhodes State College expansion and Dominion Gas campus.

Don’t these successes outweigh the feeling that change would ever be needed!

When it comes time for you to cast your vote, vote for proven experience/success and not for promises that are easier said than done!

Dan and Vicki Moening, Lima
