Letter: Picnic and donations honor veterans

Recently a campaign was started through the Chained Eagles and Senior Citizens Center to start collecting items for the veterans at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Dayton.

They were to be distributed at the annual picnic on August 6th. Members of the Senior Center and many non-members came forth with donations. One lady from Wapakoneta donated 10 afghans she had made and people walked in off the street with donations of personal items, food, etc.

The choir from the Senior Center donated items and provided the entertainment for the day. This event happened because of the help of many people including the Chained Eagles, Senior Citizens Center, (members and non-members), Golden-aires choir, The Lima News, local television station, Tom Ahl, and Buckeye Charter Service, who got the choir there and back safely.

The choir would like to thank each and every one of you for all your efforts with this endeavor. It could not have been a success without each and every one of you.
