U.S. Rep. Jim Jordan comes to Lima and says we must scrap the Affordable Care Act, or Obamacare as he calls it, because it doesn’t work and of course he voted “yes” on the House bill that gave $700 billion in tax cuts to the top 1 percent while cutting Medicaid by $700 billion over 10 years.
Forty percent of Medicaid covers children, 30 percent covers nursing home seniors, and this was his answer, just kill Obamacare and Medicaid.
On the same day the paper reported that the state of Ohio got five insurers to cover 19 of 20 counties that were losing coverage. This is leadership something Jordan knows nothing about. In case people are wondering, here is the coverage of the top Obamacare plan that members of Congress use:
•Pays 72 percent of the premium.
•Free care by the attending doctor of Congress.
•Free medical outpatient care at any military facility.
Meanwhile a person making $25,000 a year pays $142 a month after the subsidies that Jordan and the Republican House wants to take away.
I am glad we have some problem-solvers in the state of Ohio. We don’t have one in Washington.
