Letter: Meet the alternative to Jim Jordan

I appreciated the recent profile of Andrew Mackey, the new candidate running for U.S. Congress, District 4, in The Lima News. I want to encourage readers to come and out meet this dynamic young man today at the Lima Public Library (6-8 pm).

Andrew is running to make sure that people in our district keep their health care whether or not they have pre-existing conditions. Unlike most congressional representatives, Andrew knows what losing protections for pre-existing conditions may mean—he has Parkinson’s disease, and will be directly affected by the new changes in the health-care law Congress is making.

He has also worked to educate his community about the opioid epidemic. Unlike Jim Jordan, Andrew is not satisfied with leaving treatment of the opioid epidemic to local communities that are overwhelmed.

If you’d like a new perspective on how someone concerned with our health-care could represent us in Congress, come meet Andrew.
